Marblehead, MA. Boston Yacht Club hosted the
10th annual Jackson Cup Invitational Team Racing Regatta

Place going to the New York Yacht Club. On the heels of
Southern Yacht Club’s Nichols Cup (New Orleans, LA) -
many of the teams competed against each other once
again. New York's winning streak steamed along, led by
team captain Rob Richards, until Boston stopped them in
race 5 of the 2nd round robin and again in the final
round. New York went on to win 15 of 17 races and the
Jackson Cup 2008.
Josh Adams was team captain for
Seawanhaka Corinthian and took 2nd, David Dellenbaugh
led Yale Corinthian to 3rd and Tim Wadlow (2008 U.S.
Olympic Team 49er skipper) led Boston to 4th place.
Southern’s Cardwell Potts may not have liked the fog in
the harbor and took 5th, Lee Morrison lead Noroton for a
6th place, Corinthian Yacht Club with Doug Sabin and a
contingent of junior sailors took 7th and Sam Altreuter
with Eastern Yacht Club completed the line-up in 8th

Reflections of a Race
Committee Member - Tom Gawrys
"As a new club member and life long power boater I was pleased and intrigued at
being invited to join the club’s Race Committee. My limited sailing knowledge, I
was assured, would not be a hindrance to participation. In fact, my first race
duties found me on the water at the helm of a 23 foot power patrol boat, and
right at home with the days activities. The excitement of being in the mix and
watching the skill and determination of the racing crews can only be fully
appreciated by being there. Of course, on par with participating in the events,
is the after race social interaction and the opportunity to meet members and
establish new friendships. I’m happy to be part of the committee. It’s a
rewarding experience and a lot of fun." From Tom Gawrys

Sailing in Paradise...a dream of most of us here at the BYC. Feel the Caribbean.
Sail for the day and the stop at those warm sandy beaches with the makeshift,
but very permanent bar spots. Help shake out the last of the winter frost in
your limbs with this fun adventure account from Dana Williams - published in

5th Annual BYC South
BYC South, hosted for the 5th consecutive year by
Bill and Judy Cuzner, attracted fifty (that’s 50!)
guests last Thursday to the Cuzner’s canal side home in
Punta Gorda, Florida. A big thanks to Judy for producing
a great affair that was successful in shortening the
winter. PC Mike Mentuck, the most eager of them all,
couldn’t wait until June for a swim amongst BYC friends.
Perhaps you'll want to check out the
photos… and then don't miss
this.
