            'Just Desert' Cruise Rallies

Most cruisers are finding their own way to Mt. Desert.  So we are publishing the Rally Sheet departure schedule to assist those that would like to travel in the company of other cruisers.

The Boston Yacht Club 'Just Desert' cruise officially starts and ends in the Mt. Desert Island (*) area. Rallies are being formed as a way for cruisers to get to and from Mt Desert in groups for their own enjoyment and safety. These rallies are not officially part of the cruise so participants may chose to join one or make their own plans. There are three rallies being suggested for getting to Northeast Harbor and two rallies for the return to Marblehead. Cruisers interested in joining a rally should reserve associated ports using the links below. As we get closer to departure, we will select rally leaders to facilitate communication among the participants. These rally plans are just a suggestion to help members help themselves by going in a group so please feel free to modify the suggested port itinerary and travel dates to suit your individual requirements. Also, if you need to sign up for the cruise, order cruise wear, select available port slips/moorings, or join a cruise rally, click here.

RALLIES TO NORTHEAST HARBOR

A. LAID BACK RALLY (5 Days)

B. DIRECT DAYTIME RALLY (3 DAYS)

C. DIRECT OVERNIGHT RALLY (1 Day)

Another alternative to get to Northeast - The Down East Challenge Race

The Down East Challenge is an exciting overnight race from Marblehead to Rockland Maine, starting Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 10:00 am. The Regatta is sponsored by the Marblehead and Rockland Yacht Clubs to make it a memorable event, for a first-time race for cruisers.  Note this is not sponsored by the BYC but is open to all members of any yacht club.   RETURN RALLIES TO MARBLEHEAD HARBOR

A. RETURN DAYTIME RALLY (2 DAYS)

B. DIRECT OVERNIGHT RALLY RETURN (1 Day)

* Mount Desert Island - Pronounced Mount Dih-ZERT (the sweet treat served after supper), not Mount DEH-zert (an arid land with little vegetation).
