The Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race is here!  (White parking stickers only)
Halifax week has arrived and we are making final preparations for what will be a great event. The membership and visiting Yachtsmen are fortunate for the efforts of Vice Commodore Charlie Garrard and his merry band of volunteers. We look forward to seeing many of you during our “Island Night” and 4th of July festivities.
A reminder to all BYC members --- The tent goes up on Tues. June 30. Therefore, from Tues. June 30 through Sun. July 5, BYC will honor WHITE parking stickers only.
From Jon Reither, General Manager

Free up your mooring – Raft with a buddy
We are still very short of moorings for the Halifax racers. If you have a friend, who has a boat, why don’t you raft along-side them for this weekend. Alternatively meet new friends by offering to have a racer raft with you. Either way please call Ken Breen 1 (978) 886-0808 or email him kenbreen@bostonyachtclub.net. If you are worried about the wind, the long range forecast has fairly benign speeds/direction with nothing out of the NE.
From Charlie Garrard, Vic-Commodore and MHOR Chair

Join the MHOR festivities - Fri July 3
We have a full program of entertainment for the racers and we hope that our members will also participate. Please join the racers for “Island Night” on Friday July 3rd ($25 p/p reservations at front desk). We have a great menu, and the band “Better than Nothing” will provide music and entertainment.
From Charlie Garrard, Vic-Commodore and MHOR Chair

Volunteer with the MHOR
Last chance to volunteer. Give me a call directly if you have some time to spare Thu/Fri/Sat. 781 929 4412 .

Enjoy your dinner on the 4th on Marblehead Harbor
The BYC is serving a club-wide dinner for $25 (all inclusive of tip and tax) on the 4th of July  from 6 to 8:30 pm prior to the fireworks. There will be no regular dinner menu. The BYC buffet for the 4th will include London Broil. Grilled Salmon, Pasta Primavera, Marinated Turkey Tips, Vegetable Salad, Mixed Green Salad, Grilled Corn, Rice Pilaf, Chicken Fingers and French Fries, and, for dessert, scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake. Please join other members for a great dining experience. You may choose to eat on the deck, the Dining Room, the Commodore's Lounge or the Tent. For those dining under the tent, there will be a steel drum band playing from 4-8 pm. Everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy the music. Please call the front desk to make a dinner reservation.

Make an auction plan and benefit the MHOR
Plan to enjoy the new silent auction to benefit the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race. A silent auction will take place at the Club during Halifax Race Week July 2-4, and will be open to racers, BYC members and the public. There's still time to donate an item of quality and we would greatly appreciate additions to the auction. The list so far includes items donated by Atlantis, Dede Nowland, Marblehead Nauticals, Gosling’s: Bottle of Old Rum signed by Malcom, 7th generation rum maker, sail aboard Valient, Bruins tickets, and a Kern River lined racing jacket (straight from Utah) - just to name a few. Kindly contact Sue Bragdon at sbragdon@comcast.net for more information or if you would like to make a great contribution to this auction!
From Sue Bragdon, MHOR Committee

Reminder for those with 2009 summer-season dinghy slips or on-dock storage
Just a reminder that those who have been assigned a spot either in the water or on the docks must have their boats in those spots no later than today, Wednesday July 1st.  The waterfront list for boats is very long, so please make sure to have your boats in the assigned spot on time.
From Leo Fallon, Jr., Waterfront Committee Chair|

BYC Cruise – Just a month away
It’s only a month until the 2009 BYC cruise makes its first stop in Portland ME on July 31. To get things started, the kick-off dinner is on Tues July 21. Don’t forget to call the front desk and make your reservations for the dinner. The cruise committee will have goody bags and the 2009 Cruise Guide available as well as any late-breaking updates.
From the Cruise Committee
