BYC: Those demographics, they are a-changin' For those who attended the Annual Meeting on Jan. 28, thank you for engaging in the lively discussion regarding member demographics. For those of you who missed the discussion, we have the link on the BYC website and here.The demographic statistics and analysis demonstrate that current membership policies have the Club on a fiscally difficult - and some assert, unsustainable - trajectory, and at the same time the Club has a “demographic hole” that is expanding in the "under 40" member category. Dealing with these two issues now may have long-term financial benefits to the Club, and therefore, may benefit all of us and our interest in (and shall we say, love for) the Club. Demographics were presented to the membership in order to develop a sustainable solution and, perhaps more importantly, to solicit your input. After you review the information presented, if you have reactions, thoughts, questions, or ideas, please call or email the Club at vicecommodore@bostonyachtclub.net. Cruise naming party for new and experienced cruisers! Please join us for the Cruise Naming Cocktail Party on Weds. Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. We especially encourage BYC members who have not participated on an Annual BYC Cruise to come and experience the fun and camaraderie. We will introduce the itinerary and solicit your creative suggestions for the name of the 2010 BYC cruise. Open House with the Race Committee, Thurs. Feb 25 Come to the open house on Thurs. Feb. 25. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and discover what the Race Committee is about. Visit the demo stations, have informal discussions with members of the Race Committee who describe what they do, how they do it, and why they really enjoy it! Or just come to say hi! We will be using postmarks to determine order of receipt so please MAIL in your applications. How to submit items for the BYC eNews Get the word out about your event. The BYC eNews is published every Wednesday by the BYC Webmaster. Members are invited to send their contributions to webmaster@bostonyachtclub.net no later than Tuesday evening for inclusion in that week's issue. A draft eNews is circulated to all BYC officers and committees for their review and input. |
