New!  A night with Gary Jobson, Fri Nov 4 - reservations required
The Boston Yacht Club is very pleased to announce a special evening Fri Nov 4 with Gary Jobson. Gary is a world class sailor, America's Cup racer, author, ESPN commentator, President of US Sailing and all around promoter of sailing. During the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race this past July, Gary and his film crew documented the race aboard Thomson Reuters' AURORA and three other yachts. We invite you to join us to hear Gary talk about ocean racing, his race experience and introduce his film. We will have extra televisions available throughout the first floor of the Club. The evening begins at 7:45 p.m. with a brief reception, followed by Gary's presentation and the documentary film premiere on ESPNClassic at 9:00 p.m. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served. This event is complimentary to BYC members and you are welcome to invite guests for a fee of $10 each. Reservations are required and we ask that you RSVP to the Front Desk (781.631.3100) quickly.  We want to get a count of interested BYC members well before we open this wonderful evening up to the other sailing clubs and Marblehead area racers. Once again, please make your reservation as soon as possible, as space is very limited. You must have a reservation to attend.

Dues Billing Questionnaire for 2012
The BYC Treasurer's Office requests your assistance in preparing the annual dues billing for 2012. As you know, our practice in the past has been to send out a dues invoice in early January for the full annual dues amount AND at that time to give our members the option to pay their dues either in full or in eight equal monthly installments. However, we found this is not a system of good communication because only the amount of the first check would tell us what each member's intentions were. And even that was unclear in that many checks would arrive with a significant delay and/or members would change their minds with the second check. The process created lots of headaches for Club members as well as for the Club's Treasurer's Office staff.  It also created a lot of unneeded manual work in the Treasurer's Office.

For 2012 we would like to greatly simplify the process and therefore we ask you to tell us in advance whether you would like to pay your 2012 dues in one full annual payment in January, or whether you would like to pay your 2012 dues in eight equal monthly installments starting in January. Then the dues invoice you receive in January will accurately reflect your choice.

Please go to this website address and let us know your preference by filling out a short electronic form: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/37VTV76. Thank you!
From Alexander Falk, Treasurer
