Invitation:
The Boston Yacht Club will host the 2008 Commodores’ Cup
team races between the Boston, the Corinthian, and the
Eastern Yacht Clubs in the waters off Marblehead Harbor, on
Sunday, June 22nd. The event will be a double round
robin with six races scheduled.
Boats:
The
event will be held in Sonars. No spinnakers will be
used. All equipment supplied must remain on board.
No equipment may be taken on board except personal flotation
gear, food and beverages, tape, ring dings, cotter pins,
clevis pins, pencils, knives, yarn and small pieces of
string. Complete requirements and assignments will be
provided in the sailing instructions.
Site
and Courses:
The racing will be held outside Marblehead Harbor in the
vicinity of Cat Island. Courses will be announced at
the Skippers’ Meeting.
Skippers’ Meeting:
The Skippers meeting and boat draw will be held at 0900
hours on June 22, 2008 at the Boston Yacht Club
Rules:
The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing
2005-2008 (RRS), including Appendix D (Team Racing Rules)
except as altered by the Sailing Instructions.
Eligibility:
All crews must be members or spouses of members of the yacht
club they represent. Each team must be made up of
twelve people (four per boat), one of whom must be a flag
officer. Marine professionals may not compete.
In the event of a dispute over the meaning of this
limitation, eligibility will be determined by a committee
comprised of the chairperson from each of the three clubs.

Scoring:
Each race will be scored in accordance with RRS, Appendix
D3. The series scores will be in accordance with RSS
Appendix D4.
Prizes:
The Commodores’ Cup will be awarded to the winning yacht
club and a suitable keeper will also be awarded. In
addition, the burgee of the wining club will be hoisted on
the flagpole of the host club for one day.
