Now in its 36th
season, BYC's Wednesday Evening Races are the largest ongoing
sailing event in the entire Massachusetts Bay area, and the
largest weeknight racing program in New England. For twenty
weeks each year, from mid-May to late September, 80 boats come
out every Wednesday evening to race in 7 different PHRF and
one-design classes. The non-spinnaker races were originally
established to encourage cruisers and non-racers to try their
hand at racing competition in a more benign environment.
What has resulted is
a friendly, but spirited, competition among top PHRF racers,
casual racers, cruisers, and several one-design classes. BYC has
been able to provide a top caliber racing program to both
skippers and crew, and an equally enjoyable after-race social
event.
As in past years, entry into the full
season for the Wednesday Evening Series includes automatic entry
into the BYC Memorial Day Weekend and the the James R. Hodder
Regatta. On the year that the BYC will host the Chowder
Challenge this will also be included (Chowder Challenge is a
fall race run jointly between the BYC, CYC and EYC). Let's go
racing!!
